Legendary German art dealer Wolfgang Ketter (1920-2009) opened his gallery in Stuttgart in 1954.
During the 1960s and early 1970s he published prints by many of the greatest artists of the 20th century: aging but still vigorous Expressionists (Erich Heckel, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, Oskar Kokoschka, Otto Dix, Ludwig Meidner, Gerhard Marcks, Eduard Bargheer), other important Continental artists (Le Corbusier, Marino Marini, Giacomo Manzù, Horst Janssen, Massimo Campigli, Renato Guttuso, Zadkine, Alberto Magnelli), leading British artists (Henry Moore, Howard Hodgkin, Stanley Jones), and many others.
A typical edition comprised 65 impressions on fine wove paper and 35 deluxe impressions on Japanese paper, usually with larger margins.
Sylvan Cole Gallery has an unparalleled collection of Ketter's editions, mostly deluxe impressions on Japanese paper. We also have a number of unique proofs, and even the original drawing for an important lithograph by Meidner. All are in perfect condition.
