Tansey Contemporary is pleased to present “Come Full Circle”, a solo exhibition of new works by abstract painter Hilario Gutierrez on view from June 2 – 30th at 652 Canyon Road, Santa Fe NM.
The exhibition, Gutierrez’ third solo exhibition with Tansey Contemporary in Santa Fe, will include medium and large canvas works in Gutierrez’ notable abstract style with the series of work encapsulating the emotional journeys Gutierrez has experienced throughout his career as an artist. He explains:
“It is human to long for the great moments of our past by reliving what we built or created. As a painter for more than 23 years I have created moments that shine with perfect clarity, in an atmosphere that is totally understood. Thus I have come full circle with this group of work by capturing the many emotions that I have felt throughout my artistic career.”
Emotion is the soul of Gutierrez’ work through which he invites viewers to discover and respond, engaging in the artistic conversation he initiates with each of his paintings. Using a prism of conjoined colors there is no separation from one color to the next, evoking different emotional responses depending on the viewer’s proximity to the canvas.
Gutierrez began his artist career upon recognizing his true calling while looking out at the monolithic stone temples of Monument Valley, Arizona on New Year’s Day in 1994. Two days later he began to paint, drawn to acrylics, experimenting with color and form. He studied the work of master artists, in particular Gerhard Richter and Dan Namingha, to develop and perfect his technique. Now, his work has been exhibited nationally and is in public and private collections around the world. He continues to be inspired by both the natural and man-made Architecture of the southwestern landscape.
In this latest exhibition Gutierrez invites his audience to “entertain your heart with what you discover in each work and make it your own. Experience the emotional journey I create in my work and come full circle with me.”
Please join us for an opening reception on Friday June 2nd from 5-7pm. The artist will be present.
