Tansey Contemporary is pleased to present “The Rewilding”, a solo exhibition from Australian glass artist Noel Hart on display from July 7th through July 30th 2017 at 652 Canyon Road, Santa Fe NM.
Inspired by Noel Hart's home in subtropical rainforests near Byron Bay, Australia, the exhibition includes vibrant, colorful handblown glass vessels from the artist through which he vividly references endangered species of birds. Preservation is a key theme in Hart’s work and his interest in nature and ecology drives his artistic passion. He explains:
“Like many of us, I'd like to see a halt to the extinction of species, and a planet wide increase of biodiversity. To that end, all of my artwork is consciously embedded with that intent - like shamanic Power Objects - which is somewhat akin to the efforts of cave artists, some of whose intentions were likely to have been to increase the availability of species.”
A selection of his latest works on view demonstrate a shift in structure towards more sculptural forms, while still maintaining their well recognized, abstract, painterly character. Hart states: “The forms of the works exhibited range from the minimalist to the biomorphic, demonstrating a constant move towards both an artistic and personal philosophical Rewilding,”
Each of Hart’s glass works command attention and the harmony with which Hart is able to abstractly communicate the essence of an entire established species and simultaneously bring into being an independently crafted object of such aesthetic appeal is simply incredible.
Hart’s work has attracted a loyal following of collectors worldwide, and is included in the Kaplan-Ostergaard Collection, Palm Springs Art Museum, Palm Springs, CA, and the National Glass Collection, Wagga Wagga Regional Art Gallery, Australia.
Please join us for our opening reception Friday, July 7th from 5 - 7pm. Noel Hart will be present.
