Introspection: Experiencing the Emotional Present
For Immediate Release:
Riding on the success of Art Basel Miami, The Directed Art Modern is heading to West Palm Beach for Art Palm Beach from January 17th - 21st 2018. The D.A.M Team is pleased to announce their involvement and their exhibition: Introspection: Experiencing the Emotional Present, which can be visited at the fair at Booth 118.
Introspection: Experiencing the Emotional present will feature works from: British photographers Zena Holloway and Natalie Lennard, Italian Installation artist Stefano Ogliari Badessi, German artist Dominik Schmitt, Chinese Artist Guang Yu Zang and French Canadian photographer Ysabel Lemay. The mediums of the exhibited works range from: installation, painting, and photography, and were selected for their authentic honesty where the artist will only take up artistically that which preoccupies him/her personally and intends to tie the viewer to their emotional present tense through direct observation. The journey through the limits of direct observation is something that every artist has to deal with, no matter what media they use.: Some artists try to go past the surface to reveal something far deeper. For example, photography has always been a medium struggling to deal with more than surfaces. In Zena Holloway’s work, however, she manages to reveal something insightful to the viewer through her figures adrift in beautiful spaces where the viewer can enter based on the inviting gestures of the subjects, the tilt of the heads, the closing of the eyes, which is how the artist allows you into these hidden spaces. Dominik Schmitt achieves this heightened level of self reflection through his paintings, where Schmitt literally grants views into the inside of bodies; his art is based on an intensive introspection and a preoccupation with one’s self, but also with one’s surroundings. Stefano Ogliari Badessi approaches the subject through a curated environment, one where every sense is carefully curated within a habitat of his making.
Exhibitions Highlights: Stefano Ogliari Badessi will whelm the fair goers with his installation: Into the Dragon’s Breath. The D.A.M curator Valeray Fransisco explains: “Art has become more about the experience. It’s amazing how you can scan the space of an Ogliari Badessi balloon sculpture and tell who is thinking about their emotional present tense and who is distracted.”
Speaking on the entire curation and theme of the exhibit, Fransisco states: ”Introspections is a reality we all have to deal with - the management of one’s exterior form.”
