101 Months of The Noble Sage Anniversary Exhibition
Exhibition runs: 5 – 8th November 2015
Private View: Friday 6th November 6-9pm
Director’s Tour: 7.30pm
This November, The Noble Sage Art Collection (specialists in Indian, Sri Lankan and Pakistani contemporary art) celebrates 101 months of business – quite an achievement! To mark this occasion, the gallery will be holding a special exhibition at Candid Art Gallery in Angel dedicated to the art and artists that have made The Noble Sage’s reputation since 2006. The exhibition will display an array of the most popular artists in the collection and, within this, a vast spectrum of styles and content: from surreal pen and ink automatic drawings to risqué watercolours from Pakistan; from traditional depictions of village musicians to kitsch pop art responses to India today.
The Noble Sage was started in 2006 in East Finchley by Director and Founder, Jana Manuelpillai. After gaining a huge following in North London, the collection moved to Belsize Park and most recently to Frognal in Hampstead where it continues to show some of the best work from South Asia. Running from Thursday 4th November to Sunday 8th November, the exhibition will highlight more than thirty works by fourteen artists that have made The Noble Sage the sought-after collection it is today.
The exhibition will include works by senior artists such as G. Raman, M. Senathipathi, Anoma, Tasaduq Sohail, A.P. Santhanaraj, Achuthan Kudallur and Rekha Rao. In addition to emergent talents discovered by the gallery such as S. Ravi Shankar, Benitha Perciyal, M. Natesh, Elspeth Gliksten, T. Athiveerapandian, Himanish Das and Radha. All works will be original and authentic works from South Asia handpicked specifically for The Noble Sage Collection.
A special Private View to celebrate this anniversary will be held on Friday 6th November, 6-9pm. There is also a Director’s Tour at 7.30pm as part of this evening. This Private View will be open to all who want to attend and see the collection. The gallery kindly asks that you RSVP to [email protected] with your name and number of guests if you are interested in attending the Private View. Alternatively if you would like a private tour of the exhibition, do get in touch with The Noble Sage’s Director, Jana Manuelpillai, to arrange an appointment on 07901944997 or by email [email protected]
