Flowers have been the focus of Alice Denison’s work in many of her collections. Her paintings depict flora that appear to float on a variety of layered surface. “Posy Riot” is a collection of works from the past decade painted to honor the needlepoint and crewel work produced by her grandmother and great aunt. “It is the intent of their decorative work that moves me; with all their woes, they still took up this decorative stitching, which I came to understand as purposeful and serious despite its lightness.”
