According to The Butler Institute of American Art Director and Chief Curator, Dr. Louis A. Zona, “Each of these works of assembled materials is beautiful in composition and color and arranged to both engage and confound the viewer.
In this current show collections of sea debris, both organic and man-made, are the focus of Ron Barron’s captivating work. His digital images, scanned and deftly illuminated, draw the viewer in for their color, line and pattern. Each work is a converstaion about our relationship to the sea. Taken as works of collage, the art pieces are wonderfully appealing, but when examined further, each work presents content to inform us in a profound way. Barron’s approach is unique, and his methods are among the best that an artist can employ as they apply new media to the visual arts.
