The Southern is pleased to present new work by Benjamin Hollingsworth in Vision of Labor. The exhibit opens March 25 and will be on view through May 15, 2016. An opening party will take place Friday, March 25, from 7 – 10pm at The Southern, 2 Carlson Court, Charleston, SC.
Benjamin Hollingsworth is a North Carolina native currently living and working between Miami and Charleston. His work is defined by an all inclusive process which constitutes working with large, laborious materials that purposefully challenge his physicality and promote an imperfectly conscious and mindful artistic method. This dimensional approach is combined with a deliberate manipulation of mediums. From ceramic and sculpture to climbing cleats as design, Hollingsworth reassigns meaning, and in doing so, establishes a conceptual space which grants a viewer the capacity to address innate multi levels of meaning and sign relation, explore the collective consciousness, and ultimately question the influences and processes that shape human behavior.
