Thomas Nickles Project is pleased to present the pop-up group exhibition, ‘Twelve Cuban Artists’, hosted by FRED High Falls. Thomas Nickles Project is based in Brooklyn, NY and this will be their first collaboration with Charles Farruggio and Michael Van Nort, co-proprietors of FRED. This pop-up exhibition will be held at FRED, 1209 State Route 213, High Falls NY 12440, with an opening party on Saturday, March 23, 5-7pm.
Kristen Thomas and John Nickles, co-founders of the Thomas Nickles Project, first traveled to Cuba in 2016 and are now representing the work of a diverse group of contemporary artists. The pieces in ‘Twelve Cuban Artists’ vary in subject matter, style, scale and medium - abstract, figurative, still life, photo realism, collage, acrylic, pen and ink, mixed media - and are made by emerging and established artists who are highly trained as well as self-taught. That said, there is a distinct commonality among the pieces in this survey, an indescribable and pleasing harmony specifically Cuban.
Artists: William Acosta, Luis Alberto Álvarez López, Yamilys Brito Jorge, Sandra Cordero, Jorly González Contador, César Leal Jiménez, Abel López, Rigo, Jorge Rodríguez Diez (R10) Adrian Rumbaut, Damian Valdes Dilla, and Ronald Vill.
