Kanaval: Faith and Resistance

During 1:54 New York, TURF is excited to feature some of Leah Gordon's most intriguing photographs from the 'Kanaval' series. Those explore the vivid relationship between art, faith and resistance in Haiti, during carnival (Kanaval), in the southern town of Jacmel, which falls in late February each year. They also reveal the esoteric tales and rituals that continue to bind Haiti and West Africa through the reverent belief system of Vodou.
