Clay Mahn

Chicago minimalist Clay Mahn considers every painted composition ahead of time, creating digitally rendered 'sketches' that allow for change and movement within the initial composition. It is these 'sketches' that Clay releases with TWFINEART as limited edition prints (edition of 50 pieces).

Finally the digital sketches are transformed into paintings, objects of extreme physicality that assert their presence and materiality through thick, built up layers of soft plaster like paint and limestone powder. The unintentional marks, scratches and dents accumulated in the studio become a conscious component of the work and juxtapose the graphic qualities of the final composition.
