Axis Spread, a solo exhibition by Brenna Murphy, includes a complex installation of sculptures, textiles and found objects. The exhibition and events are open to the public and free to attend during the dates and times listed above.
For the second in a series of solo exhibitions of female media artists at Upfor this summer, Brenna Murphy returns from New York to configure a labyrinthian floor installation. Using digitally-fabricated sculptural elements, textiles and found objects such as rocks, rope and foam, Murphy will rearrange the installation every evening while the gallery is closed. From the “soft opening” on June 28 until the opening reception on July 6, the artist and visitors can experience new mental architectures and spatial relationships every day.
Axis Spread is the second in a series of three solo exhibitions by gallery artists working primarily in media art, which culminates in a collaborative presentation of work by all three artists (Morehshin Allahyari, Brenna Murphy and Katie Torn), on view August 23 through September 2, 2017. This exhibition series began with Morehshin Allahyari’s She Who Sees the Unknown: Huma, which exhibits June 1 through 24, 2017.
