“Given its long standing engagement with photography; curator Madeleine Filippi in collaboration with Vanessa Quang Gallery is pleased to present Capturer l’Éphémère.
An exhibition that brings together artists of different nationalities with a shared desire to capture a fleeting moment. This exhibition is a homage to inevitable change, and an ode to the act of creation itself; inviting the public to question about the medium of photograph.
Capturer l’Éphémère also offers alternative perspectives from which to experience the artworks; on one hand there is the capturing of natural transformation, with the photographs of Christophe Luxereau, Reynald Drouhin, and Berndnaut Smilde.
On the other, there is human act; one needs to remember that our actions are only ephemeral in appearance; and that their repercussions extend beyond a given moment, and can sometimes have consequences that will last centuries, and modify our perceptions. Indeed, as it is seen perfectly by the photographs of Markus Henttonen, Nikolaj Bendix Skyum Larsen, Emeric Lhuisset, Jari Silomäki and Sarah Trouche.
More than a critical discourse, their artworks reveals the poetic aspect inside a fleeting moment; an upheaval; or a metamorphosis. One is proposed to conceive an artwork as an experimentation itself of the ephemeral.”
