Vanessa Rothe Fine Art invites you to attend "FINE ART & FASHION", an exciting exhibition of original oils and watercolors by fifteen contemporary realist artists who have been inspired by the world of fashion, as well one of a kind creations by fashion designers and craftsmen who have been influenced by fine art. FINE ART & FASHION features approximately 30 one-of-a-kind paintings, as well as bespoke shoes, dresses, and jackets by contemporary fashion designers, created specifically for this exhibition and available for sale.
Taking place at the historic Salmagundi Club, FINE ART & FASHION will be on display in the Patrons’ Gallery and glamorous Parlor where, for the last100 years, fine artists, screen writers, authors, poets, and creatives have convened to exhibit and discuss their work. One of the country’s oldest and most respected art organizations, the Salmagundi Club has helped the American public develop a greater understanding and appreciation of the arts, and these hallowed halls -- once walked by former Salmagundi members Winston Churchill, Louis Comfort Tiffany, and Childe Hassam -- are the perfect host for this contemporary exhibition showing the continued intersections of fine art and fashion.
“Fashion has long been an influence on artists and their paintings, just as many fashion designers throughout the ages have been inspired by historic masterworks,” says curator Vanessa Rothe. “From the gold embroidered folds on the dresses in Waterhouse’s paintings, to the top hats worn by Dandys in Caillebotte’s Impressionist works, couture in paintings not only shows us the styles of the time but also reminds us that clothing itself can be a "work of art" and a form of expression. Combining top contemporary realist paintings from around the globe with one-of-a-kind creations by current fashion designers and a bespoke shoe maker, this exciting new exhibition aims to celebrate the timeless relationship between fine art and fashion.”
