Venvi Art Gallery hosts 'A Passion for Color'
Venvi Art Gallery, the new fine arts gallery at Places on Parks at 2901 E Park Avenue, has an exhibition opening Aug. 5, titled "A Passion for Color." It is a survey of the paintings and constructions or Ray Burggraf and proposes some radically different approaches to seeing the whole color spectrum using acrylic paint, wood, plexiglass, and light.
Some works even have motion and changing illumination. This can be a sublime experience that fits well with the goal of Venvi to present whenever possible the spirit of exotic and vibrant colors in abstract compositions.
When Venvi Director, Brinda Pamulapati, saw artist Ray Burggraf's painting "Jungle River" in the show at Tallahassee City Hall 30 for 30, sponsored by COCA, Ms. Pamulapati recognized in it a good fit with her own passion for color and abstraction ans she also knew that with Burggraf shoe could have on call the experience of a veteran artist. He was impressed with her determination to succeed and an artist/gallery relationship based on an interest in color was born.
Ray Burggraf case to Tallahassee in 1970 and taught painting, drawing, design, and color theory at Florida State University until he retired to Emeritus status in 2007. His work was recently exhibited at the Ringling Museum in Sarasota. He has maintained a studio in the Railroad Square Art Park for many years and is one of the founding members of the popular non-profit 621 Gallery.
The Venvi Art Gallery is just the kind of stylishly minimalist platform to present the futuristic vision and full range of work by an established artist like Ray Burggraf.
