(ZURICH, SWITZERLAND) Galerie Bruno Bischofberger, Vito Schnabel, and The Bruce High Quality Foundation are pleased to present The Retrospective: 2001-2010, a solo exhibition by The Bruce High Quality Foundation.
The Retrospective 2001-2010 is an accounting of worlds, both real and fictional, experienced since the founding of The Bruce High Quality Foundation on September 11th, 2001. Concerns of the work range from international terrorism to the gendering of economic malfeasance to the unabated scourge of technological obsolescence to theever-present quivering gap between art and life.
The Retrospective 2001-2010 reaches back to Voltaire’s mockery of “the best of all possible worlds,” “forward” to Kubrick/Clark’s dystopian 2001: A Space Odyssey, and arrives at a vision of our contemporary moment where metaphors of power contend with the power of metaphor.
“The Bruce High Quality Foundation, the official arbiter of the estate of Bruce High Quality, is dedicated to the preservation of the legacy of the late social sculptor, Bruce High Quality. In the spirit of the life and work of Bruce High Quality, we aspire to invest the experience of public space with wonder, to resurrect art history from the bowels of despair, and to impregnate the institutions of art with the joy of man’s desiring”.
