In August 2018, the Art Salon Salzburg will bring its inspiring cross-over installation of exquisite works of art to Salzburg for the fourth time. In the picturesque surroundings of the Sala Terrena and the spacious expanse of the Renaissance courtyard Dietrichsruh, the six participating galleries show an impressive spectrum of epochs and genres. Characteristic works of classical modernism of the 19th and early 20th centuries, key works of radical change after 1945 unfold unimagined aesthetic effects in harmonious combinations and juxtapositions with the contemporary. The finely curated joint exhibition of participating galleries from Austria and Germany, in the former garden hall of the Prince Archbishop's residence, has gained international renown as a counterpart "on eye level" to the quality of the Salzburg Festival. Neo-Viennese Beck & Eggeling, photography specialist Johannes Faber, the galleries Konzett, Ruberl and Wienerroither&Kohlbacher and Salzburg's Thomas Salis offer a fresh view of art and its expressiveness par excellence with their counter-draft to the conventional trade fair format, with subtle axes of vision and contrasting dialogues of the works. The six internationally renowned galleries have developed a new and captivating curatorial idea for the presentation of top works - without the usual exhibition booth. Their vision of salon character, intimate atmosphere, which delightfully illustrates daily life with art and the aesthetic enjoyment of skilful compositions, has inspired the public since its foundation in 2015.
The sculpture garden in Hof Dietrichsruh is just as popular. Also in 2018, contemporary works will stand side by side in a differentiated context and as a counterpoint to the enchanting architectural backdrop dramatically dominated by the tower of the Franciscan church.
