In the TEFAF Paper section W&K – Wienerroither & Kohlbacher presents selected drawings by Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele and other representatives of Viennese and International Modernism - after all, the drawing embodies the first manifestation of artistic creation. For Gustav Klimt, the line as an instrument thematizes a broad range of body types, motifs, and temperaments. In addition to studies for the famous portraits of ladies of Viennese society, W&K also shows highly erotic drawings and works from the important group of allegories, such as "Medicine.”
Two outstanding draughtsmen, Alfred Kubin and Lyonel Feininger, who had a short but intense friendship, will be shown by W&K at this year's TEFAF. Their reception of modernity could not be more different, but it does form an exciting dialogue.
The programme is extended by works by German Expressionists such as Ernst Ludwig Kirchner and George Grosz as well as international artists of classical modernism such as Pablo Picasso.
