Frequently resurrecting materials from past installations, the artist saws and paints the components, and then arranges them into whimsical geometric objects and reliefs, the characteristics of individual pieces driving multiple transformations. We present a comprehensive overview of Ryman’s work with 40 exponents, a selection comprising small and three-dimensional wall pieces that captures the playful spirit of renewal and reuse that drives Ryman and his projects. Cordy Ryman (*1971) lives and works in New York City. He has exhibited at PS1 in New York, the Visual Center in New Jersey, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Miami, and the Esbjerg Art Museum in Denmark, among other venues. He is represented by Zürchner Gallery, Paris and New York; Konrad Fischer Gallery, Berlin; and Walter Storms Gallery, Munich.
