Warehouse 1-10 is proud to present this Solo Exhibition of Oil Paintings by James Hart.
Hart has developed a type of human-based algorithmic field painting which is both highly structured and simultaneously gestural.
The nature of perception through pattern recognition and the phenomenology of light are the center of James Hart’s artistic practice. Through carefully crafted and composed paintings, Hart creates work which challenges pattern recognition and pure sight. He has developed a type of human-based algorithmic field painting which is both highly structured and simultaneously gestural.
Hart was formally trained in photography, receiving his MFA in 1981 from the Visual Studies Workshop, SUNY Buffalo, in Rochester, New York. His formal education in photography formed the basis for his work in painting. He has shown nationally in over 50 exhibitions and is included in numerous public and private collections, including the Graham Collection in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Hart has been reviewed in numerous publications and his work was included in New American Painter. James Hart is also the Founder and Director of Phil Space, a gallery representing Santa Fe’s emerging and legacy artists
