“Eyes horizontal, nose vertical” is the first solo exhibition by the Czech artist Habima Fuchs in our gallery. Through the arrangement of the exhibited works the artist herself creates a small scaled and self-contained universe, which can be explored and contemplated from the viewers’ side. The title „Eyes horizontal, nose vertical (foster the eminent dance)” suggests a dynamic by indicating an interaction of order and motion. Two sculptures are placed in center - one vertical and one horizontal - filling the space with directed perspectives and forming a powerful and stable constant. They are surrounded by many agile figures, animals, plants and other elements that break through this sculptural order and they further refer to various forms of living and senses. In general Habima Fuchs’ artworks are always based on a poetically concept; within material and presentation they are dealing with aspects of philosophy, culture, spirituality or nature and demonstrate the searching for an active and universal appreciation of our world. Habima Fuchs was born 1977 in Ostrov in the former Czech Republic. Besides solo exhibitions at SVIT Praha, at the National Artgallery Zachęta Warsaw and at Malkasten Düsseldorf, Habima Fuchs had contributions to groupshows at Canada New York, von der Heydt Museum Wuppertal and KAI 10 Düsseldorf.
