Wetpaint Gallery is excited to announce the return of our annual Christmas exhibition. This year we will be showing a vibrant collection of contemporary paintings by some of Wetpaint Gallery's much loved artists including incredible work by Andrew Mackenzie a painter and printmaker whose work mines a territory between pure abstraction and representation. His work responds to the landscape and overtly acknowledges the constructs through which it is seen. His paintings contain elements of a conventional landscape, through his use of colour, a semi abstraction and layered working process, he provides contemporary interventions that break with tradition and portray a stunning and sublime work.
Also on show will be Rodrigo Martin a Spanish painter influenced by the Abstract Expressionists and is constantly exploring the possibilities of colour and geometry. He produces stunning canvas paintings that are both bold and delicate, colourful and subtle.
Vanda Harveys wonderful paintings are like journeys capturing shifting views; sky, space, speed, land, mass. She is looking for a pictorial dynamic that is at once exhilarating and reflective, so there is a fair amount of balancing opposites within her work. Elements within the paintings are held in tension, the weight of a black gesture defies gravity while the soft blush of a rosy morning supports an entire ocean.
