A natural storyteller, San Francisco artist Chelsea Ryoko Wong creates playful figurative works that explore modern culture, lifestyle and politics. Her inquisitive scenes capture fleeting but resonant moments presented from unconventional perspectives. Through the use of gouache, watercolor, acrylic and colored pencils, Wong incorporates detailed line work, bold blocks of color and snippets of text into her scenes in ways that spark curiosity and humor. The Fish Jumped Laughing Into the Net opens on October 6 with a reception from 5-8pm in conjunction with Pioneer Square’s First Thursday Art Walk. It will be up for exhibition at ZINC contemporary Oct. 6-31. More at ZINCcontemporary.com (ZINC contemporary is located at 119 Prefontaine Pl S, Seattle, WA 98104).
