Featuring modern and contemporary sculpture, painting and works on paper by internationally renowned artists. Tasende Gallery is a member of the Fine Art Dealers Association and the American Association of Museums.
Opening in 1979 with exhibits by Manzù, Matta, Chadwick, Noguchi and di Suvero, for its first Henry Moore show in 1982, in addition to the gallery presentation, works by Moore were installed at the Salk Institute and La Jolla Cove. In 1984 Tasende Gallery, as sole US representative of Eduardo Chillida, introduced the artist to America with the largest show ever presented in a commercial gallery. With architect I.M. Pei, Tasende coordinated installation of Chillida’s “De Musica” at Meyerson Symphony Center, Dallas. The gallery expanded to include Lee Krasner, Helen Frankenthaler, Richard Pousette-Dart, Wayne Thiebaud, Fernando Botero and others. To celebrate its 30th year, the gallery presented “The Sculptor’s Hand,” tracing the creative processes of 15 artists from drawing to sculpture.
