This viewing room invites you to explore the intricate relationship between light and lines as demonstrated in the works of acclaimed architectural photographer Helene Binet and mixed media artist and documentary producer Sumie Garcia Hirata.
Through her unique artistic perspective, Binet captures the subtle nuances of architectural forms, highlighting how light transforms space and influences perception. Meanwhile, Garcia Hirata delves into the narrative depth and cultural context of her subjects, using both visual and auditory elements to create immersive experiences. Together, their works offer a profound exploration of how light and lines shape our understanding of architecture, landscape, and storytelling in the contemporary art scene.
Hélène Binet (Switzerland, 1959) has gained international recognition for architectural photography and is referred to as a master of light and shadow. The depth of knowledge of architectural history is manifest in the way Binet portrays her subject matter, and her intimate understanding of each building is evident in the way she conjures up the spirit of the space through light, shadow and texture.

Sumie García Hirata (Mexico City, 1986) is a Mexican artist of Japanese descent who, in her practice, transitions between still and moving images, exploring landscape as a space where memory inhabits. Based on this idea, García creates works that convey the contradiction seen in landscapes: on the one hand, they are fragile due to their flaws, folds, and fractures, but on the other hand, they possess an overwhelming force that defines them.
