We’re pleased to introduce Koichi Matsuda’s paintings.
It expresses the beauty of the earth and the preciousness of the present age, and conveys to the viewer the joy of the world and the desire for peace.
After graduating from Osaka University of Arts in Japan in 2003, Matsuda worked as a graphic designer for a production company in Tokyo, but after the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, he realized anew how precious life is in Japan and became an independent painter. He loves world heritage sites and has traveled around the world twice, visiting about 100 world heritage sites in Japan and abroad and painting the beautiful scenery of the places he visited. His activities also include collaborations with general merchandise, planning travel products, giving lectures on travel, and workshops on dreaming. His representative series is “WORLD HERITAGE ART,” a series of two-dimensional paintings featuring colorful world heritage sites. He uses drawing pens, acrylic paint, photographs, and graphics for his drawings. The World Heritage sites around the world, which he uses as motifs for his artwork, are imbued with a variety of wishes, including respect for different cultures, respect for others, opposition to war, diversity, care for the earth, and the passing on of culture to future generations. By depicting world heritage sites and the beautiful landscapes of these sites, Matsuda expresses his compassion for the earth that transcends national borders, the beauty and joy of the world, the splendor and richness of the modern age, and the joy of people from all walks of life. In recent years, he has also favored cute motifs of cats and animals as objects of peace in his works, and has arranged homages to famous paintings into peaceful expressions. Matsuda's work conveys to the viewer a sense of enjoyment and a desire for peace in the world.
