Her artistic style is ever-evolving, driven by a love for problem-solving behind the easel. Anne's work integrates expressionistic elements, varied mark-making techniques, and compelling compositions to evoke emotional responses ranging from calm to energetic. Nature and the environment are perpetual sources of inspiration, offering endless textures, colors, and forms to explore.
"I aim for my art to evoke a strong sense of familiarity and immersion. I want viewers to feel as if they are stepping into the scene I've created, allowing them to momentarily disappear into it and experience it firsthand."
The primary driving force behind Anne's art is the emotional fulfillment it provides. Painting is a dynamic puzzle that challenges her to think outside the box and translate three-dimensional imagery onto a two-dimensional surface. Art is not just a profession for Anne; it is a way of life, offering an essential outlet for emotional expression and serving as a form of therapy. Her creative process is heavily guided by intuition, often working with soft pastels and oil paints. Embracing the learning process, she sees mistakes and "ruined" paintings as integral steps toward achieving works that satisfy her vision.
Anne's art transcends personal narrative, focusing instead on conveying moods, feelings, and stories. Influences from Japanese woodblock prints, Expressionism, and Impressionism are evident in her work, blending patterns, composition, and emotional intensity. This fusion allows Anne to interpret themes with a straightforward visual language, creating immersive and evocative experiences for viewers.
Background
Anne's artistic journey began in childhood, driven by hands-on learning and creativity. Early experiments with paints and markers evolved into drawing, painting, and fiber arts, boosting her confidence and connection with others. Encouraged by art-enthusiast parents and influenced by her brother in NYC, she gained exposure to diverse artistic perspectives, shaping her development. She later studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, switching from graphic to fashion design.
