Xano’s art reflects his adventurous spirit, moving seamlessly from figurative and design to graffiti and abstract. His varied style is a testament to his relentless pursuit of new ideas, materials, and concepts. Inspired by masters like Picasso, Velázquez, and Goya, and influenced by his time in New York with Milton Glaser and the city’s graffiti artists. Xano blends classical and contemporary elements with ease.
Xano Armenter's artistic journey began in early childhood, uniquely shaped by eye problems that intensified his appreciation for the visual world. At barely two years old, extended periods with his eyes covered during long hospital stays heightened his sensitivity to color, light, and form. This profound experience sparked an organic desire to draw and paint, laying the foundation for his diverse and evolving body of work. Armenter’s art is distinguished by bold black lines and implausible elements, yet he refuses to be confined to a single style. His adventurous spirit and constant exploration of new concepts, materials, and tools reflect the stages of his life, from figurative and design to graffiti and abstract. His work trajectory mirrors his quest for self-understanding and versatility, often blending these elements to create a unique visual language. Driven by daily discipline and passion, Armenter views painting as both a lifestyle and a cathartic process. His art is an avenue for inner healing, exploring his imperfect personality and reaching a deeper understanding of form, shape, color, light, vision, texture, dimension, and space. His work aims to evoke emotions in others, provoking collective realizations and emotional connections.
