About
Since 1994, Woodward Gallery has specialized in developing private and corporate art collections with Contemporary and Urban Art and through the unique painting of their acclaimed Gallery Artists. A pioneer on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
Woodward Gallery launched their NYC Art Institution in 1994. The gallery remains an important, respected part of the downtown art scene with a perfect balance between showcasing the works of prominent figures like Robert Indiana and Andy Warhol and educating the public about young talented artists. Throughout the decades Woodward helped shape the careers of artists like Roy Newell, and was responsible for the revival of conceptual street artist Richard Hambleton. The Woodwards arrived in the 1980s when the NYC art scene was dominated by innovators, like Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring. Director John Woodward had been the Art Curator for the historic Four Seasons Restaurant through its closing in 2016 and for the New York based, spacious Gourmet Garage locations for over 15 years.
